Walk & Talk therapy is exactly what it sounds like — a counseling session conducted while walking outdoors rather than sitting in an office. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and take place in accessible outdoor areas near our Ashburn location in Loudoun County. Your therapist will agree on a route beforehand that ensures privacy and comfort. No special clothing or fitness level is required — the pace is entirely conversational, not athletic. Sessions are weather-dependent and your therapist will always have a backup plan for inclement conditions.
The therapeutic approach used during Walk & Talk sessions is the same as in-office work. Depending on your therapist and your treatment goals, sessions may draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, or other evidence-based modalities. The setting changes — the quality of care does not.
