Frequently Asked Questions on Psychiatric and Therapeutic Practices at Riverside Counseling Center

What’s the difference between a therapist and a psychiatrist at Riverside?

Trauma treatment therapy

Therapists at Riverside provide talk therapy to help with emotional challenges, relationships, and mental health conditions. Our psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing mental health disorders and can prescribe medication when needed. Many clients benefit from working with both a therapist and a psychiatrist as part of a holistic care plan.

Grief and loss counseling

Do I need a referral to see a psychiatrist at Riverside Counseling?

Cognitive therapy services

No referral is needed to schedule a psychiatric evaluation at Riverside. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, or another mental health concern, you can contact us directly to set up an appointment with one of our board-certified psychiatrists. Several of our providers accept insurance, and for those who are out-of-network, we believe you won’t find more compassionate, expert care anywhere in the region.

Anger and emotional control therapy

What types of therapy do your licensed therapists offer?

OCD support therapy

Our therapists offer a wide range of services, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, couples counseling, and therapy for children and teens. We tailor each therapy plan to meet the unique mental health needs of our clients across Loudoun County and the surrounding areas.
