Deirdre Streufert, MA, a National Certified Counselor, works with adults and adolescents on a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, and career related problems. Her approach with her clients is holistic in that she addresses the cognitive, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of clients. Deirdre uses elements from several theories in her work, including Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, and Person Centered.
Deirdre obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the George Washington University. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from James Madison University and has always had a passion for helping and serving others.
Prior to graduate school, Deirdre worked in the consulting industry for over seven years, in which she had the opportunity to career coach and mentor employees.
Her previous experience includes individual therapy as a graduate intern at the Community Counseling Services Center in D.C. and individual and group counseling at Fellowship Health Resources in VA. She also served as a career counselor for three years at Georgetown University, working with undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni on many aspects of the career development process, including career exploration, job searching, and networking.
Deirdre is a Counselor in Residency at Riverside, working under the supervision of Dan Towery, LPC. While her services are not reimbursable by medical insurance, she does offer a reduced fee for counseling services.
